Social Work
This area of our work is vast and can encompass many types of help and support. We have built excellent links with our local statutory teams - it is often overwhelming trying to engage with services when in need.
We can support with completing benefit claims, signposting to other services, engaging domiciliary care, hospital visits, support for carers, obtaining equipment to aid safe environments within your home, escorts for appointments and budgeting and financial help through difficult times.
We realise that loneliness affects many, especially our older community members who may not have their families close. We can visit or telephone you regularly for interaction and a chat.
Transport
Where we can, we will help with transport to important appointments, if you do not have family or friends close by to help.
We will also, if available, support you to attend events within the community.
Events
We plan regular events throughout the year for the whole community to attend. There will be a minimal charge for some of these, dependent on where they are. We will provide transport to attend, and we will accompany you at the event, if you need assistance.
We have some volunteers who have offered their support but are always looking for more. If you feel you have some time available, we would love to hear from you.
All events will be advertised on Facebook, and throughout the community and each month in the Recorder online. We will also use the Community calendar and be asking all Synagogues to promote our events.
Grants
We can offer grants to both individuals and organisations who meet our criteria and are of the Jewish faith.
We can support with the claims or send the forms direct to you for completion.
We will assess each claim on an individual basis.
Decisions for smaller amounts will be dealt with swiftly but larger amounts will be considered by the committee of Trustees.
All grant applications are treated in the strictest confidence.
