Social Care Department

We are one of the few charitable care organisations with our own Social Care Department.

The department is headed by a fully qualified Senior Social Worker, who directs a small team of part time support workers and the team will often be your first point of contact with BJCC.

The department can help with many different matters-

Assistance in completing benefit claim forms and ensuring that you are receiving your full entitlement.
Showing you the way to access the Social Care & Health, Adults and Communities and other professional departments.
Financial help in certain circumstances.
Support following bereavement and loss.
Befriending and advocacy- if you are on your own we can advise and act for you.

As this department works with our sister organisation, the Birmingham Housing Association, and manages 34 units of supported housing and 8 general needs apartments within our geographical area it means that all care options can be considered.

Together we can look at all your long term and future options including staying in your home, moving to sheltered/supported housing or residential/ nursing care in our own Andrew Cohen House.

It helps that we have built up good relationships with government and local council departments in our area over a long period of time.

We are a flexible team who will be happy to help and support you through any period of difficulty or crisis and all help is given on a strictly confidential basis.

Please convey our thank to the whole team at Andrew Cohen House who played their part in Dorothy’s care during her 2 year stay...
